Who are we, Really? Who will we Become?

Who am I?

Answering  this question seems simple but in reality, I haven't got the slightest idea. What I do know is what I represent in this exact moment in time, this very minute, this very second. When I think back on my past, it doesn't even seem like mine. I get pieces here and there but overall it seems like it’s been watered down and blurry. Key moments stick out but only really good or really bad. Who was I in the in between?  Can we only be defined in the good and bad moments? If the in between is forgotten and I only know who I am at this moment, will that be forgotten too?

Fact is, I don't know who I was in the past. What I said, what I believed, what I loved. Those memories and moments are frozen in time. It’s history. I don’t know who I will be in the future. I’d like to think and say I’ll be “XY& Z” but who really knows. Will I still think the same? Will I still want the same things? Where will I be and how did I get there? The past is History, the Future, a mystery. If all we have is today, then what will we decide to do with the moment that we have? What I do today is all that matters because even this moment will be a distant memory and the cycle will continue. It's what we decide to do with the moments that we have right here, right now that makes the difference.  So, Who I am? I am me.  I want to do good. I want to be good, for myself and others. I want to strive everyday to be that person.

Who was I? I don’t know anymore, thinking back seems like a stranger or a friend I haven't seen in years. All I know is past me wanted to be good too.

Who Will I Become? Uncertain. I have hope and faith in the type of person I will be. I hope she still wants goodness. But is that for me to decide? Not right now. She’ll find her own way. All that matters is what we do today, so do good.
